INBOUND
Technology Conference
20,000 marketers gathered in Boston to hear the likes of Michelle Obama, Deepak Choprah, John Cena and Judd Apatow. Catalyst was tasked with designing a show floor at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center to stimulate social media engagements and boost attendance for the following year.
We created “Club INBOUND,” a 170,00-square-foot interactive space, with seven major lounges and several other installations, including a central media tower along with sponsor exhibits.
The social activations—created to hold attendees’ attention and motivate them to share—earned the highest social media hits ever across FB, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter. The result: C-suite raves, happy clients, and a significant increase in audience size the following year.

Media Centerpiece — built from custom LED loops carrying event content, audience-generated social media, and a home for the event’s DJ.

“Rubber Ducky” — This playful photo opp became the most shared across social media for the entire week. Guests were lined up at the bathtub installation from the moment the show opened until it closed.

“Chill Zone” — an urban park with a real waterfall, live trees and hanging hammock chairs.

“Kaleidoscope maze” — another popular Instagram photo opp with IRL filters.

“Neon jungle” — a photo installation with a visual tie to the opening video of the General Session.

“Reflections Lounge” — a kinetic, large-scale sculpture provided guests with an opportunity to engage with large-scale art and unique photos of their own reflections.

VIP Lounge — a modern pop-up ‘loft’ featuring large-scale original artwork from graduate art students at Boston University.

“Beanbag Mountain” — a whimsical hill under a custom chandelier created by a leading balloon sculptor.
